What’s On Your List?

Thanksgiving weekend I watched Nobody’s Fool. In my opinion, it wasn’t the best movie, but I liked the concept of it. If you haven’t watched it’s basically about this girl that has a relationship with a guy that is everything that she has on her Dream Guy List. And then there’s another guy that is super sweet, but doesn’t check everything on her list.

There are so many movies about this so-called list that every woman has. And the same lesson is always told… you’re probably not going to end up with the guy that crosses everything off your list. If the qualities you are looking for in a guy is to be tall, have a college degree and have a 6-figure job what are you really searching for in a relationship?

Yeah, a guy that is tall would be great when you want to wear heels, but that doesn’t mean he’s going massage your feet when your feet are throbbing from walking around all night in them. Someone can have a college degree, but that doesn’t mean they’re better than anyone else. Some people can’t afford college or they want to pursue their dreams in a different way. That six-figure job…yea you’ll be able to buy whatever you want on the credit card but will they have enough time to spend time with you?

Sure we have a list of what a perfect guy could be, but you’re not perfect yourself so why should you expect differently? You probably have a little extra weight on you and have been slacking on going to the gym (i.e. ME). You may not have been able to afford to attend college.

When I think about my future with a guy, I’m not thinking about how much money he’s making. I think about how he’s going to make me feel. Is he ambitious?  Does he have dreams? Is he making time for me? These aren’t characteristics you can just check off by reading their job application. These are characteristics you learn by talking and hanging out with them and truly getting to know them.

A NEW KIND OF LIST

I think there’s nothing wrong with having a list. It just depends on what’s on the list. My sister, Onyx told me she wrote down a list before she found her current boyfriend and suggested I create one too. I like how much more meaningful so I create one and so should you!
