What Happened When My Sister Picked My Louisiana Date?

So I went to New Orleans, Louisiana with my friend, Lydia, for Madi Gras. I thought this would be perfect timing to cross another date off my list and my sister had someone in mind. I decided to let her write a little something…

Why Did She Trust Me in Picking Her Date?

Diamond and I have always bonded and been close because we like the same kind of guys but Diamond is more open-minded with any guy. I think Diamond deserves a hard-working, respectful, smart, kind-hearted, family-oriented and open-minded guy. The guy also needs to treat you like the queen and goddess that you are. It’s not like she hasn’t found a few guys to meet her standards it’s just never the right time for them to be together. However, I believe everything happens for a reason. Even though I’m still getting to know MJ checks off multiple qualities my sister deserves.

Why Did I Pick the Guy?

I met MJ while I was at Jackson State University. He played football and I played volleyball. We met at a party. He was dancing and showing his moves and I thought it was the cutest thing. From then on we were cool. He was graduating in the Fall 2018 so I had little time to spend with him. While he was here for that short time I looked to him as a big brother that I never had.

After he graduated we Snapchatted each other every now and then to catch up with each other. He’s entertained watching volleyball, so he supported me at some of my volleyball games. While my sister started her 50 Dates around the 50 States; I had the best idea to come to me. What if my “big brother” went on a date with my actual big sister and they worked out? Honestly both of their personalities I believe would click and my sister deserves a good guy like MJ and I really hope they enjoy their date and each other.

My experience finding my Texas date was tough, I was glad someone else had the responsibility of finding my date. I’m so close with my family, I thought it would be a great idea for them to participate in my dating life. I tell my siblings almost everything so they know about my dating struggles and I know theirs. My siblings know me so well they know what kind of guys I’m attracted to and what kind of person I need.

My sister had someone in mind as soon as I told her about my 50 Dates in 50 States plan. She told me about him and I agreed to go on a date with him if he was interested. He said he was, so my sister gave me his number and I texted him a few days later. I told him when I would be there and I was assured he would make sure I would have a great time when I came. My sister told me he was such a great guy, so I was excited.

After a few texts, we didn’t message. I was fine with that because it was so long before we would see each other. A month before my trip I decided to reach out to make sure he was single and still up for the date. Luckily he told me yes. Days before my trip we came to the conclusion of Sunday night. He gave me no other details so I assumed he would let me know later.

Day of the Date

Sunday came and I was out enjoying New Orleans, Lousiana on our first day. We enjoyed amazing beignets and tasted hot sauces across the street. The day was going great I was hoping the fun would continue on our date. Sunday afternoon, MJ texted me rescheduling our date to Wednesday, because of the rain. I said no problem since I was already having a good time. After dinner, Lydia and I ended up stuck in a CVS avoiding the rain. Once the rain subsided we walked Bourbon Street drinking and collecting beads.

An hour passed....and I still heard nothing.

Lydia and I had a long day, and I still needed to try a Hurricane so we grabbed a drink at Pat O’ Brian’s. Afterward, we finished our drink quickly we decided to try these hot dogs our airboat guide told us about.

Another hour passed and still no response.

I texted my sister updating her on the status of MJ. Fifteen minutes later, I finally got a text saying why he took so long to respond. Before he texted me I figured the date wasn’t going to happen. Although my sister was disappointed in MJ, she still wanted the date to happen. Based on MJ’s action I realized I wasn’t a priority for him, so I went on with my night.

I texted the cute bouncer I met at Funky 544 on Sunday. He showed interested in seeing me again. I didn’t want the night to come to an end so Lydia and I grabbed a Hand Grenade and headed to the bar.

It sucks anytime someone stands you up and I will say this was not the first time. I’ve done this dating stuff for a while and refuse to let a guy ruin my day/night. In every negative, I try and find a positive. I didn’t consider getting stood up along my journey, but I guess there is one plus side. I have a reason to go back to New Orleans. Hopefully, my date follows through next go around.
