Travel Guide: Lexington, Kentucky

These are the restaurants and I did with and without my dates in Lexington, Kentucky. Read more about my Kentucky dates here. If you travel to Kentucky this weekend these are some places you can visit.

Town Branch Distillery

The Town Branch Distillery was my first destination in Lexington, Kentucky. Kentucky is known for its bourbon so I think a tasting is something you should definitely do when you visit. This Distillery’s tour was only $11 (free if you’re under 18). The $11 includes a tour of a bourbon distillery, brewery, and 4 tasting tokens. The tokens allow you to taste beer or bourbon. There was Vanilla Barrel Cream Ale that taste like milk or cream soda. And there was a gin we got to taste that tasted like pepper (definitely not for me). Even if you’re not a drinker learning the history and chemistry of beer and bourbon is pretty cool.

Tortilleria Y Taqueria Ramirez

Tortilleria Y Taqueria Ramirez is the authentic Mexican restaurant I went to with Kyle. I usually always get tacos when I travel, so I had to put this on the list. Ramirez is not a super fancy place, but they have great tacos. Not many Lexington residents know of this place, so you just got

keeneland

Keeneland

Keeneland is a racecourse and horse auction facility in Lexington. This is not where they host the Kentucky Derby, but they do host races here. I, unfortunately, didn’t come during horse racing season, but that’s probably when I’ll come back to visit Kentucky. You can pay to do a tour of the premises, but you can also walk around the place your self. I did a self-tour but luckily ran into a tour while I was walking around by myself.

Ramsey’s

Ramsey’s is a local diner that sells breakfast, lunch, and dinner. This was where I was supposed to meet Richard for breakfast here. That date didn’t happen, but my visit to Harry’s still happened. They serve large portions so you won’t ever leave hungry.

Kentucky Horse Park

Kentucky Horse Park is an attraction where you’ll see a bunch of horses! This is where I went horseback riding with my date with Ryan. The horse park also has a horse museum that shows why Kentucky is the Horse capitol of the world.

pasta-garage-kentucky

Pasta Garage

Pasta Garage is an Italian CafĂ© that sells tasty pasta. I was craving pasta and Kyle recommend this spot. Pasta garage has plenty of options from Lasagna to Build Your Own pasta. I decided to be a fatty and also ordered the cheesecake. I couldn’t finish it because I was so full from the pasta, but I definitely recommend going for it too!

Wise Bird Cider Co.

Wise Bird was a place I wanted to try out because I don’t like beer so I usually drink Cider. If you like ciders like Angry Orchard or Crispin this may be a place for you. The bartender let me try everything and my favorite was the Cider Sangria and It’s a really cute place with lots of seating inside and out. I even made new friends here so it’s a great place

fusions-brewing-kentucky

Fusion Brewing

Fusion Brewing is next door to Wise Bird. If you’re more of a beer person you can walk over to this bar. I really loved how they named their beers based on match/science relating topics. So it’s the perfect spot if your a nerd that likes to drink.

third-street-stuff

Third Street Stuff

Third Street Stuff is a local coffee shop. My Lyft driver who was a major DILF took me here before a headed to the airport to head back home. This place is hard to miss because it’s so colorful. This is an LGBTQ positive business so that’s to be expected. Inside is filled with books and seating for you to get some work done. I recommend grabbing a cup of coffee and a warm apple cider donut.

If you like bourbon, horses, and good people travel to Lexington, Kentucky. If you’re a drinker try and fill up your Brewery Passport. Town Branch Distillery, Wise Bird Cider Co., and Fusion Brewing are all on the list. To find more places you should visit when you travel to Kentucky check out sharethelex.com
