Travel Guide: OKC, Oklahoma

Oklahoma is probably a place you thought you ‘d never really want to travel to, but I promise it’s a great place for a weekend trip. I had a great date/tour guide in Oklahoma so I was able to enjoy most of OKC in just a short weekend. Check out the places I enjoyed to plan your future Oklahoma City itinerary.

cafe-oklahoma-travel

All About Cha

All About Cha is a nice cafe where you can have breakfast and lunch. This is where I worked remotely before I explored Oklahoma. I had a veggie-filled omelet and iced green tea. I’ve never had an iced green tea, but I definitely recommend. All About Cha has great service (also cute) so they’ll find the perfect meal for you. I didn’t go to the cafe for lunch, but they offer sushi. If you’re not a sushi fan, you can order a wrap.

Myriad Botanical Garden

Myriad Botanical Garden is a nice botanical garden/park. You can visit the conservatory for a price, but if you can’t enjoy the outside grounds it’s completely free. There is plenty of greenery to enjoy Oklahoma City nature.

Skinny Slim’s

I met my Oklahoma date at Skinny Slim’s. It’s a simple pub with an extensive beer selection. It does look like a wall with a door on it, but I promise it’s legit! They have a patio with seats outside if you want a more spacious area. Javier also told me it’s a great place to watch a soccer game with new friends.

Fassler Hall

Fassler Hall is a German-inspired bar. Just like in Germany, the bar is free for all seating. So you have to sit with strangers. It’s a great way to meet new people especially when you are new to the area. Fassler Hall has a wide range of beers. If you’re like me and hate beer they do have cider options. You can also order German foods such as bratwurst and schnitzel. To add to the fun they also have multiple Jenga games on the outside patio.

bleu-garten-oklahoma

Bleu Garten

Blue Garten was the spot I was most excited about visiting in Oklahoma. Bleu Garten is filled with food trucks, plenty of seating, corn hole & Jenga. This is a great place for everyone whether you have kids or a dog. The food trucks change out, but I was able to try out Cookie Dough To Go & The Saucee Sicilian. I’m always eating raw cookie dough so I was excited to try a proper edible cookie dough with NO eggs or raw flour. My date and I also shared a cheezy pizza with my favorite toppings.

piano

Dueling Pianos

Michael Murphy’s Dueling Pianos is an amazing place you have to check out! There is a stage with 2 pianos played by talented musicians. Guests request a song on a piece of paper. The piano players alternate playing and singing the different requested songs. It is a very entertaining show with great music and fun interactions. Lots of people come here for celebrations for birthdays and retirements. If you’re being celebrated the entertainers will invite you up on stage. Karaoke is also in a separate room if you want to sing on stage yourself.

ednas-dollar

Edna’s

Edna’s is a super cool bar that is covered with dollar bills on the inside. This is a bar where all the locals go. Make sure you add a dollar to the wall and try the lunchbox! A lunchbox is not a happy meal, but an alcoholic beverage that definitely sneaks up on you.

pops-oklahoma-travel

Pop’s

Pop’s is a go-to Oklahoma destination. It is a 45-minute drive outside of Oklahoma City, but it’s worth the drive. The glass walls are lined with different bottles of sodas. If you like fried okra you’ll definitely want to enjoy a quick lunch here. Make sure you buy a few bottles of sodas and take a picture with a huge pop bottle outside.

Wheeler Ferris Wheel

Another go-to Oklahoma spot is the Wheeler Ferris Wheel. The wheel is located at a cute park that you can chill on hammocks and benches. This is also where you can find the big OKC letters so make sure you take your pictures!

tacos

Fuzzy’s Tacos

Fuzzy’s is a chain restaurant that sells tasty tacos and large margaritas. If you don’t know I love tacos and it’s my go-to date idea for Tuesdays. They had great tacos and one margarita is enough to make you feel a little tipsy. There was a line outside the door so it’s a popular spot you should check out whether you’re in OKC or another location.

riversport-adventures

RiverSport Adventures

Riversport Adventures is a great place to bring your family or friends. It is an adventure park where you can participate in plenty of activities such as white water rafting, paddleboarding, zip-lining, kayaking, and team building activities. If you don’t have anyone to go with maybe you find a group to join as I did.

sonic-oklahoma-travel

Sonic

Sonic is a chain restaurant you have probably been to, but the first Sonic was actually opened in Oklahoma. So if you’re a Sonic fan visit a Sonic in OKC or visit its headquarters.

bricktown-oklahoma-travel
