Colorado – Part 1 of 3
To say the least, my trip to Colorado did not go as planned. I had a date planned with Robert, a guy I was talking to since I started asking for people to apply to my 50 Dates in 50 States ordeal. He had plans set for us to go to a hot spring. I was very excited about this date, but plans had to change because of his was having heart problems. So in this post, I won’t be talking about him… don’t worry I’ll tell you more about him in a future post.
1. Start Swiping
So since I wasn’t sure how things would pan out with us, so the day before my flight I quickly set my OKCupid location to Denver, Colorado. When I set a goal, no matter how crazy it is I make sure it happens and that meant I had to get a date. I swiped left and right on Tinder hoping to find someone that wouldn’t have a problem going out with me the next day.
2. Talk with Everyone
Above is a snippet of my dating profile on OkCupid. I made sure to mention my blog further down in my profile to be very transparent. I sent the first message to a few guys. As I got matches I waited for guys to message me and started conversing with them as well. When I landed in Colorado around 6 o’clock and still didn’t have a plan yet I gave up hope until I received a message from Ralph asking to celebrate my arrival.
3. Just Ask for the Date
If you want to go on a date with someone just ask! I loved his quick action, and he had a great smile so of course, I said yes. We ended up going to an Ethiopian restaurant and immediately started talking about our families and how we grew up.
4. Go With the Flow
Afterward, we decide to continue the night at The 1up, a bar filled with arcade games and pinball machines. We ordered a drink and walked around the bar playing a few games with each other. It was lots of fun, but the bar was getting crowded and I wanted to go somewhere low key.
We ended up going to Goosetown Tavern. We sat in a booth and talked till the bar closed. We talked about how he quit smoking, our dating experiences, and how great it is to talk to someone with different perspectives and similarities. We were both enjoying each other’s company, and he asked to chill at my place. I had to follow my rules and said no, but as we waited for his Lyft we discussed possibly seeing each other the following night.
I matched with Ralph and within 24 hours we met and had a great time together. With these dating apps, we have a luxury of meeting people so quickly, and you should take advantage. The next time you’re in the mood for a date, try these four tips. If anything, the biggest thing to follow is to GO WITH THE FLOW.
Life doesn’t go as planned, my trip didn’t go as planned, and dates don’t always go as planned. So go on that date tonight and see what happens. You might just meet that perfect someone. And no matter what you’ll have a story to tell all your friends.
Great story! Can’t wait to read the other stories!! ……Del
Thank you!!
Ooooh Brother!! What a ride…. I can’t wait to hear about your next date. =)
